Zeinab, 26, a Muslim Shi’a veiled woman, works on the field as a representative of an association that grants micro-credits to individuals in the poor neighborhoods of the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of the Shi’a community in Lebanon.

For over a year, I followed Zeinab in her professional, family and loving life, with a main question in mind: How to be in Lebanon today, a Muslim Shi’a veiled young woman who stubbornly seeks her individuality in a deeply patriarchal and communitarian society.

Between traditions and modernity, religious beliefs and freedom of thoughts, between emancipation and submissiveness that Zeinab, skillfully plays with social and religious codes and demonstrates all her singularity and her contradictions.
