In Ahmedabad, Isabel runs an animation workshop for a group of henna tattoo artists, the Mehndi. She interviews them about their dreams: Ramia wishes to fly, Saadiya dreams of a women’s parliament, Shubhashree longs to travel to Switzerland, and Samira claims her independence through rap.

She graduated from the UPV/EHU in Bilbao, then continued her studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, and obtained a master’s from CalArts LA. She directed the Animac festival in Lleida from 2003-2013, and was responsible for co-ordinating the Arteleku Laboratorio de Imagen en Movimiento in San Sebastián from 2005-2014. She is regarded as one of the pioneering women of independent animation in Spain. She is also a senior lecturer at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, and a visiting professor at both NID-Vijayawada and CAFA-Beijing. She has recently premiered her first animated feature film “Sultana’s Dream” at San Sebastian Film Festival Official Selection.
